Phoenix Child Photography: Atticus Wayne

I still remember the day that my friend Josh told us that he and his wife Maria were expecting their first baby. The four of us met up for a lovely dinner in late April, just before Mother’s Day. We went to a favorite pizzeria place that we’ve been to in the past — Cibo in downtown Phoenix. It was about a month before Brandon and I moved to Buffalo, so we were trying to pack in as much quality time (QT) as possible, and spending time with J&M is always a treat.

Josh broke the news so matter-of-factly, like it was no big deal. His voice was so calm when he asked us when we’d be coming back to visit Phoenix. “The reason I ask,” he says while gently wrapping his arm around his wife, “is because Maria will look a little different then… She’s pregnant.”

It was so adorable. And then it all made sense to me that Maria wasn’t nursing her usual glass of wine!

You could tell that this huge weight had been lifted; we learned they hadn’t yet told anyone the news because they were waiting for Mother’s Day to share with their friends and family.

After I exploded with excitement — we talked all things baby . . . which doctor, which hospital, names, everything. Josh has a knack for naming things. He is always coming up with unique, interesting names. Mario van Peebles, for example, was the name of his last car.

The pregnancy FLEW by (I’m sure Maria thinks so too) because before I knew it, I received the text welcoming sweet baby Atticus Wayne to the world.

I got to meet Mr. Atticus on a Skype date and boy was he cute. But, it’s nothing like the real deal.

Josh & Maria, I’m so glad we got to visit with you and your little family. We are so lucky to call you guys our friends. Atticus is so charming. Can’t wait to watch him grow!

According to mom, Atticus was a little cranky because he was supposed to go down for his nap. But how could he when his future doctor was in town?

See? No tears.

Probably one of my favorites. His bottom lip kills me. And that he’s having a staring contest with his toy octopus?

He is already learning to roll over.

And already knows how to break hearts.

So so precious.

Tiffany Tcheng Abbott - Thank you so much @[10017928:2048:Chelsea]! This is definitely the direction I want to go with my photography. The light in Arizona is always good to me.
