Neither of them wanted a huge, glamorous wedding. So instead, they planned a short, intimate ceremony at the Sonnenberg Gardens, and invited their immediate families to witness the moment they became husband and wife. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, Greg & Colby were married on an amazingly gorgeous day in Canandaigua, NY, and the entire ceremony lasted all of five minutes.
It was perfect. And it was exactly what they wanted.
Colby’s sister Whitney freshened up her hair and makeup in the bride’s room . . . she was so relaxed.
I loved how simple and elegant Colby’s dress was. It fit her PERFECTLY. Can you guess where it’s from? J. Crew! No wonder I liked it so much . . .
A toast to the bride-to-be . . .
I might have teared up a tiny bit watching Colby’s dad walk her in.
I love the groom’s face as he watches his bride walk down the aisle. The area was a little dark due to the overcast skies, but as soon as Colby’s dad gave her away, the sun moved in to shine just enough beautiful light on them.
Jason, the officiant and Greg’s best friend, brought an iPad to read from. And, I don’t think it was on purpose, but the iPad cover matched the wedding colors :)
I want to thank Greg & Colby for asking their guests in advance not to have cameras and cell phones out during the ceremony. This simple request allowed both families to be completely present with the couple to witness the beginning of the rest of their lives together. It also made it easier for me to document the event without having to worry about phones and arms in the air, other camera flashes, etc. One less thing on my mind. SO appreciated, guys!
After family formals were taken, Greg kept saying, “I’m going to go get Glenn. I’m going to go get Glenn.” I was pretty confused until he explained that Jason bought them the Zombie of Montclaire Moors garden statue from the SkyMall magazine for their wedding. HILARIOUS.
Until that day, I didn’t know a single soul who had ever purchased an item from SkyMall. Pretty awesome gift!
Just Instagrammin’. It was too good not to share it right away.
Don’t you love Colby’s ring? Greg picked out a black diamond instead of something more traditional, and I think it looks gorgeous on her. She wears it so well.
Greg & Colby had custom engraved wine glasses personalized with their names and wedding date for each of their guests to take home.
They also had custom engraved jars made to hold custom printed m&ms and salty turtles from a local Buffalo chocolate shop. They are AMAZING.
It was truly a beautiful day, and I’m so glad to have been a part of it. Congratulations Greg & Colby!
Oh, and thank you to my lovely assistant.
